Microsoft Azure Fundamentals

Introduction:
As businesses increasingly move operations to the cloud, employees today need to know more about IT than how to use a few applications on a computer. The wide-scale migration of IT services to the cloud means that everyone who uses these applications should also know something about using them. Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals training will give the non-technical professional a basic understanding of Azure cloud services and how to make the most of them. AZ-900 is exceedingly valuable course for new or aspiring IT professionals, experienced technical and non-technical professionals looking to validate foundational skills, and non-technical professionals.

This course primarily uses the Azure portal and command line interface to create resources and does not require scripting skills. Learners in this course will gain confidence to take other role-based courses and certifications, such as Azure Administrator.

This course will provide foundational level knowledge on cloud concepts; core Azure services; and Azure management and governance features and tools.

Prerequisite:
There are no prerequisites for taking this course, familiarity with cloud computing is helpful but isn’t necessary.

Course Objective:
This Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals training goes step-by-step through the AZ-900 exam objectives, and covers topics such as:

  1.  Cloud concepts: benefits, economies of scale, CapEx vs. OpEx, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
  2. Cloud deployment models: public, private, hybrid
  3. Cloud cost control: purchasing options, cost factors, pricing calculator, TCO, saving money
  4. Customer support: service-level agreements, regions, geographies, zones, free Azure account, Azure portal, Containers, microservices, and serverless computing
  5.  Storage: overview, structured vs. unstructured data, storage tiers and encryption
  6.  Networking: overview, load balancing, CDN, security groups, network access, Internet of Things (IoT)

This course is for anyone who would like to gain an understanding of Azure fundamentals:

  1.  Candidates with no-technical background or no prior Azure knowledge who are interested in learning about the cloud
  2. Candidates with technical background who are interested in getting more advanced in the future
  3. Candidates who want to earn an AZ-900 certification

Hands on Experience:

The features of the course include practical exercises and labs and easy to understand lessons. This course is adequate to provide trainees with the required knowledge and practical skills to be an Azure Administrator.

SQA Framework:

This course is aligned with the PDA (Professional Development Award) Cyber Resilience @ SCQF level 7, learners will be able to earn 32 credits upon passing all relevant exams successfully.

You have the option of undertaking this course via following learning modes:

1.) Face to Face (Classroom based Learning): You will attend the class each week on its specified day and time at your designated centre (Edinburgh or Glasgow)

2.) Virtual Learning: Live traditional face to face class will broadcast remotely via our online settings through Microsoft Team

3.) Blended Learning: Mixture of Face to face and Virtual learning (must inform when joining the course).

4.) ELearning is also available for this course

Course funding: SAAS: Scottish Awards Agency for Scotland (PTFG)

This course is fully SAAS PTFG funded and available to eligible individuals only;

SAAS General funding eligibility requirement:

  1. You have to be a resident of Scotland
  2. Either employed and earning less than 25k a year or can be unemployed as well
  3. Have not used the SAAS funding in this Academic Year.

Other criteria:

  1. Students do not need to pay it back as this is a grant not a loan.
  2. This Part time funding can be used/applied by someone who previously granted a funding for a degree, postgrad or any other full time studies (HNC/HND) etc.
  3. Part time funding cannot be receive in a same session if someone is already receiving any part/full time funding for other courses.
  4. Part Time funding can only be utilized for one course in each academic year
  5. SAAS part time funding academic year runs from 1st Aug to 31st
