Introduction to the Award:

This course has been arranged in conjunction with the SQA, NPA Cyber Security at SCQF Level 6. Learners will have an opportunity to earn 18 SCQF credit points & received a certificate from Scottish Qualification Authority if successfully passed all relevant SQA unit exams.

Course Introduction:

The Introduction to Cybersecurity Essentials course stresses the broad topic of cybersecurity in a way that matters to you. Learn how to protect your personal data and privacy online and in social media, and why more and more IT jobs require cybersecurity awareness and understanding. If you are interested in establishing career in IT, Cyber Security & Computer Networking, then this is an ideal course to start with. ITPT offers this course to students interested in learning about foundational knowledge and build essential skills in cyber security, and explore career opportunities in the cyber security field.

Learners would benefit in gaining the knowledge that includes SQA units/modules data security, digital forensic and ethical hacking. This course is highly visual, dynamic, and interactive, and engaging. This course prepares learners with crucial skills to be responsible citizen in a digital future as well as preparing them for a future job role.

Prerequisite:

No prerequisite required to join this course, just ease of commuting use is recommended.

  • This course sits at SCQF level 6 so it is available for beginners.
  • Any combination of National 4’s of which one should be in Maths, if you are a school leaver.
  • We also consider applications on individual’s qualifications/work experience and personal statement basis. If necessary, we ask applicants to sit an aptitude test to assess their existing knowledge.

Funding Available For Local Students:

Course Funding: SAAS PTFG: Scottish Awards Agency for Scotland

This course is funded by SAAS part time funding which is available to eligible individuals only;
SAAS General funding eligibility requirement:

  1. You have to be a resident of Scotland
  2. Either employed or unemployed, if working then earning must be less/equals to 25k a year
  3. Have not used the SAAS funding in this Academic Year.

Other criteria:

  • Students do not need to pay it back as this is a grant not a loan.
  • This funding is different from the full time funding which can be applied by someone who previously granted for a degree, postgrad or any other full time studies (HNC/HND) etc. but not in a same session.
  • Part time funding cannot be received on a same session if one is already receiving any part/full time funding for other courses.
  • Part Time funding can only be used for one course per academic year
  • SAAS part time funding academic year starts from Aug to July.
